It will be a few years until my son asks me this question, but these are the things that keep me up at night. How do I respond to the question, "Why don't I go to school like other kids?" It feels so incredibly daunting, so we collected some responses that seem genuine & guilt free. My mantra to prepare for this day will be; respond honestly, easy to understand, with a touch of fun.
"I want you to have awesome adventures out in the big, wide world!"
"I want you to dive into all the cool stuff you're curious about!"
"I don't want anyone, especially boring grown-ups, to ever tell you to be different."
"I'm here to show you everything I can so you can build your dreams!"
"We homeschool so we can learn about the things you love, all the time."
"We get to learn whenever we want and take breaks whenever we need!"
"We go on tons of fun field trips and learn by doing awesome things!"
"You get to play with friends all day long and join so many cool activities that school doesn’t offer."
"We make sure you learn everything you need to know to be super successful."
"We decided to homeschool because we think it's the best way for you to learn and grow right now."
"You get to help pick what we learn about and how we do it!"
We hope this helps! It's going to be just fine.
