Stained Glass Mittens

This art project is a fun and imaginative way for toddlers to explore colors, textures, and shapes while creating their own "stained glass" masterpiece. Remember, there are no rules—your child can make any shape they like, from a mitten to a star or even a heart. Let their creativity guide the process!

Materials Needed

  • Tissue paper in various colors and shades

  • Fake leaves or found natural materials (optional)

  • Black construction paper (cut into a frame shape, like a mitten or any other desired outline)

  • Clear contact paper (two pieces per project)

  • Scissors

  • Scotch tape

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Workspace: Gather all materials and clear a space for crafting.

  2. Set Up the Base: Peel one sheet of clear contact paper and place it sticky-side-up on the table.

  3. Add the Frame: Place your black construction paper frame (e.g., mitten or chosen shape) on top of the sticky contact paper.

  4. Decorate the Shape: Encourage your child to layer tissue paper pieces, fake leaves, or found materials onto the sticky paper to fill the inside of the frame.

  5. Seal the Artwork: Once the shape is filled, place the second sheet of contact paper sticky-side-down on top to seal the tissue paper and materials inside.

  6. Trim Excess Paper: Help your child trim away any extra contact paper around the frame's edges to tidy up the project.

  7. Display the Art: Use a bit of scotch tape to hang the finished "stained glass" creation on a window where sunlight can shine through.

  8. Capture the Moment: Take a photo of your child’s creation to remember their wonderful art day!

Enjoy watching your little one express their creativity!
